The Mazurka (Mazur or Mazurek in Polish) is a lively Polish folk dance, in triple time, intended for a circle of couples and characterized by the stamping of feet and clicking of heels, traditionally danced to the music of a village band.

Meryem Pearson is a former Professional Ballroom and Latin Champion. A founding member of the Canadian DanceSport Federation, she is the current Vice-President. Meryem is the organizer of La Classique du Québec, the most prestigious DanceSport competition in Canada.
The METU Open is a sanctioned 2-day Turkish DanceSport Federation (TDSF) competition, recognized by the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) since 2009. A WDSF World Ranking Tournament, the METU Open is hosted in Ankara, Turkey by the Middle East Technical University (METU) DanceSport Club, where the head of the competition's organization committee is Arif Göktuğ Karacalıoğlu.
