Islanders Dancesport Challenge
The Islanders Dancesport Challenge is a Dancesport one-day competition hosted annually in Staten Island, NY (USA) since 2014, orgonized by Renata Shvarts around the months of January. Now an Independently run, by Junior Athlete Dance Association (JADA).
Overview#
The Islanders Dancesport Challenge has been hosted annually since 2014 in Staten Island, NY. Renata Shvarts organizer of the one day event held each year around the months of January.
Renata Shvarts maintain goals in conveying this competition with the feel of a World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) event. With the use of artistic lighting and décor as well as a judging panel that includes national, international and WDSF adjudicators, competitors have the opportunity to dance in front of some of the top critics in the business, at the same time doing so in an inviting and energetic environment.
Sponsorship and scholarships from various dance organizations and community businesses are also awarded.
The Islanders Dancesport Challenge is affiliated with AAU West Coast Junior Olympic Games!
They are now an Independently run, by Junior Athlete Dance Association (JADA) supported event which means:
- No membership is necessary with any of the organizations to participate
- New SOLO STAR categories for single dancers
- No costume rules
They are a AAU Junior Olympic Qualifying Event so the best couples can compete for the junior Olympic gold in July!
Events#
Events include competitive dancing in juvenile, junior, youth, under 21, amateur and senior I, II and III events in all dance styles:
As well as teacher-student divisions and a new Solo-Star division that requires no partners.
Events range from syllabus to open levels. All closed syllabus events are invigilated using the current USA Dance, Inc. (USAD) list of elements and restrictions.
