Definition

The New England DanceSport Championships is a sanctioned USA Dance one-day competition hosted annually in Massachusetts (USA) since 2012, around the middle of May. The NEDSC is pleased to be a qualifying event for the West Coast AAU Junior Olympic Games and 2018 USA Dance National DanceSport Championships in Baltimore, MD.

Overview

The New England DanceSport Championships competition is run by volunteer members of the Massachusetts Amateur Ballroom Dance Association (MASSabda), a non-profit organization and chapter of a larger non-profit organization, USA Dance whose goal is to foster both social and competitive ballroom dancing through its local chapters. It is also the official member organization of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and the U.S. member of the world governing organization, the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF), has been hosted annually since 2012 in Massachusetts (USA).

Beginner to Championship - Dancers from New England, across the nation and the world will participate at all age groups, from Pre-Teen to Senior to compete in American Style and Standard, latin to qualify for the 2018 USA Dance National DanceSport Championships in Baltimore, MD.

The NEDSC is pleased to be a qualifying event for the West Coast AAU Junior Olympic Games. All under 21 participants will be invited to participate in those games in July, 2017 in California.

Venue

This year's championships will be held at the historic Moseley's on the Charles ballroom in Dedham, MA

Events

Events include competitive dancing in the American Smooth, American Rhythm, International Standard and Latin divisions throughout the juvenile, junior, youth, adult and senior age levels.

Events range from syllabus to open levels. All closed syllabus events are invigilated using the current USA Dance, Inc. (USAD) list of elements and restrictions. USAD costume rules apply.
