The 8-day Blackpool Dance Festival, also known as the British Open Championships, is the world's first and most famous annual Ballroom Dance competition of international significance, held in the Empress Ballroom at the Winter Gardens of Blackpool, England since 1920. It is also the largest ever Ballroom competition: in 2013, 2953 couples from 60 countries took part in the festival.

The BDF Star Championships (originally known as The Star Championships) is a competition hosted in England, currently organized by the Ballroom Dancers' Federation. Therefore, an amateur dancer is one who is not financially remunerated for the time they spend dancing or training, even though now in modern times, price rewards are in check at many competitions and championships. As a result, the term "amateur" is more of an upheld ideal.

"Technique of Latin Dancing" (also known as "The Laird Technique of Latin Dancing") is an educational book written by the Ballroom Dancing legend, Walter Laird, first published in the year 1961.

Tatsiana Lahvinovich Galchun is a former Professional Ballroom Dancer, specializing in the International Style Latin division. She is a 4-time Croatian National Amateur Champion, a WDSF European & World Latin Champion in the Amateur and Professional divisions, as well as the winner of almost all possible major DanceSport competitions including the German Open Championships (GOC), The International Championship, UK Open Championships and Blackpool Dance Festival. Tatsiana is currently a WDSF Licensed Adjudicator and the coach of many top couples including WDSF World Champions in Adult 10 Dance & Under 21 Latin. Residing in Ljubljana, Slovenia, she is the co-owner of the Plesna Šola Diamant Dance Studio.
